Fillers are injectable, non-surgical treatments for restoring contours in the face that have lost volume over time.
Filler techniques can be performed on just about any area of the face that has lost volume. Common treatment areas are the cheeks, the tear trough area under the eye, the lips and temples. Even the nose can be re-contoured and shaped.
Fillers are different from Botox.
Whereas Botox works on relaxing muscles that cause a bunch or fold beneath skin, fillers correct the volume loss deep under the skin and the tissues. Fillers are a gentle, injectable procedure and, depending on where they are used, long-lasting too. Results could last several years and results can actually be maintained for a lifetime with periodic maintenance – maybe every one to two years. The most popular fillers today are the hyaluronic acid or HA fillers, which contain a substance, found naturally in the body. It’s very well tolerated and gives a natural looking result.
